Self-Installation Instructions
Before you begin, make sure you have the following:
- Fiber modem
- AK-Fi pod
- Power cord
- Fiber cable
- Ethernet cable
- WiFi enabled device (phone/tablet)
- MyGCI credentials
1. Use the fiber cable to connect to an active fiber outlet on the wall in your home.
- Fiber port is located underneath the modem.
2. Connect the included power adapter from the power port to a wall outlet.
3. Give us a call at 800-800-4800, or send a chat on gci.com so we can activate your service. After we activate the modem, it will take just a few minutes for it to reboot.
- Your modem’s status indicator lights may turn on and off a few times. The modem will be online in just a few minutes once you see a white light that remains lit.
4. Connect the ethernet cable to the fiber modem.
- Connect one end of the provided ethernet cable to the 10G ethernet port located at the back of the fiber modem.
5. Connect ethernet cable to the ethernet port on the AK-Fi Pod that has the "globe” icon. If your AK-Fi Pod doesn't have a globe icon, either port is fine.
- Connect one end of the provided ethernet cable to the ethernet port at the bottom of the AK-Fi pod.
6. Plug AK-Fi pod to a wall outlet.
7. Download the AK-Fi Home app and install it on your mobile device.
8. Use your MyGCI credentials to log in.
You made it! Over the next 24-hours, your WiFi network will assess your connections and make adjustments to maximize your in-home WiFi coverage and internet performance. It will automatically make these adjustments over time, to always deliver the best service to your connected devices.
For the best GCI Internet experience, make sure it’s your only active internet connection. Having multiple networks active at the same time can cause interference and reduce the quality of your internet performance.
