On Thursday evening, Alaskans can watch the welcome home rally for the University of Alaska Anchorage women’s basketball team on GCI Channel 1 and HD channel 999.
UAA is hosting the rally for the team after its return from the NCAA Division II national championship in Indianapolis. The Lubbock Christian Chaparrals narrowly defeated the Seawolves 78-73.
The rally will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage. Friends and family who cannot attend in person can watch the rally live on GCI channel 1 and HD channel 999.
“GCI couldn’t be more proud of our hometown athletes and their outstanding performance this season,” said Senior Vice President of Consumer Services Paul Landes. “We want to make sure that Alaskans who can’t attend the rally will still be able to join in the celebration and show their pride and support for these incredible athletes and their remarkable effort.”
The rally is open to the public. The UAA women’s basketball team will be available to meet with fans and sign autographs afterward.
Through its recent promotion #NextStopIndy, GCI, in partnership with Alaska Airlines, sent a group of Seawolf supporters, UAA students and UAA women’s basketball fans to Indianapolis Monday to watch the championship game and cheer on the team in person.
