Prizes include five round-trip Alaska Airlines tickets, the latest smartphones and more GCI technology

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – GCI is excited to bring the Tech Quest scavenger hunt to downtown Fairbanks from 1 – 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5. There will be 19 people named as winners, with prizes ranging from smartphones and tablets, to round-trip Alaska Airlines tickets anywhere the airline flies.

The free, family-friendly Tech Quest scavenger hunt is a celebration of GCI’s ongoing commitment to providing Fairbanks with the latest technology services and the fastest Internet speeds in the market. Earlier this year, GCI upgraded Fairbanks cell sites to deliver 4G LTE capabilities.

“At GCI, we’re proud to be a long-time member of the Fairbanks community and are excited to celebrate our commitment to providing Fairbanks with the best technology experiences possible,” said GCI Senior Vice President and General Manager of Consumer Services Paul Landes. “We are constantly seeking ways to connect our community through technology, and the GCI Tech Quest does just that.”

The fun begins at 1 p.m., at Veterans Memorial Park on Cushman Street between 7th and 8th avenues, where guests will receive their player’s card and first clue, sending them on a quest around downtown Fairbanks and eventually making their way to the final location. This untimed event is designed for participants of all ages and abilities. Everyone who completes the GCI Tech Quest and submits their player’s card at the final location by 2:30 p.m. will be entered to win fabulous prizes. The Tech Quest finale will include a celebration with music and snacks provided by GCI.

GCI Tech Quest prizes will include smartphones, tablets and GCI services. Five first prize winners will each receive one round-trip Alaska Airlines ticket to anywhere the airline flies. One grand prize winner will receive both a newly-released, much sought-after smartphone and the larger phablet. All participants will take home a coupon for a free GCI Video on Demand and a free set of headphones. All children who attend the event will get a free GCI Great Alaska Shootout basketball, too.

“The Tech Quest is a fun, family-friendly event that gathers our community to celebrate technology. We are thrilled to partner with GCI yet again to bring this exciting event to Fairbanks.” said Alaska Airlines Regional Vice President Marilyn Romano.

GCI Tech Quest is free for everyone and open to the public. More information about GCI Tech Quest can be found at www.GCI.com/TechQuest.
