Anchorage, Alaska – This summer GCI is upgrading its wireless network to bring customers faster data speeds. As these upgrades are implemented throughout the summer, customers will experience an enhanced wireless data experience. In addition, GCI is on track to bring 4G LTE wireless data speeds to the community of Kodiak by the end of 2015.

“As an Alaska-based company, GCI is dedicated to bringing top technologies and services to our customers across the state, including residents and visitors in Kodiak,” said GCI Regional Vice President Mary Hart. “The updates that we are making in Kodiak will allow our customers to have faster data speeds and expanded service areas when using their mobile devices, and we are thrilled to continue improving the customer experience.”

GCI is upgrading six cell towers in Kodiak. These improvements will enhance the data capacity in the wireless network within Kodiak, with the result being increased data speeds to the area.

Customers who already have LTE-capable smartphones and tablets will automatically begin to receive the benefits of the upgraded network at no additional cost. These upgrades are part of GCI’s dedication to providing Alaskans the best and fastest communication technology available.
