GCI to broadcast President Obama press events across Alaska as available
Anchorage, Alaska – To ensure all Alaskans have a front row seat for President Barack Obama’s historic visit to Alaska next week, GCI plans to televise live coverage of available special events on GCI Channel 999 HD/1 SD. Coverage begins with a live broadcast of the GLACIER conference from approximately 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, Aug. 31, at Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center in Anchorage.
Coverage of President Obama’s public speeches during proposed visits to Seward and Dillingham on Sept. 1 and 2 will be broadcast on GCI Channel 999 HD/1 SD dependent on live feed availability. The anticipated visit to Kotzebue on the afternoon of Sept. 2 is also scheduled for a live broadcast on the GCI Channel.
All news feeds will also be made available statewide on Alaska Rural Communications Services (ARCS).
Actual times for coverage are dependent on the president’s speeches and have not yet been confirmed by the White House. The actual schedule may change.
