GCI Celebrates Launch of 3G in Bethel With Customer Appreciation Event

June 9, 2014

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – GCI is hosting a customer appreciation event in Bethel to celebrate the arrival of 3G mobile data speeds. One of the day’s highlights will be the 6,000 McDonald’s cheeseburgers flown in specifically for this event, enough to share with the entire community. The event, which is free to the public, will be held Friday, June 13, from 1 – 3 p.m., at the Solo Café, located at 751 3rd Avenue in Bethel.

GCI expanded 3G wireless service to Bethel in May through the completion of cell tower upgrades on the Alaska Wireless Network. The network upgrades deliver improved mobile data speeds which give customers faster web browsing, audio and video streaming, and more.

“At GCI, we are excited to introduce 3G speeds to our Bethel customers. GCI is proud to serve the Bethel area,” said GCI Senior Vice President and General Manager of Consumer Services Paul Landes. “We wanted to do something fun and find a different way to say thank you. We are grateful that our customers choose us as their provider and have allowed us to be part of this great community.”

In addition to McDonald’s cheeseburgers, GCI will give away thousands of dollars worth of prizes during the event. Attendees have a chance to win 25,000 Alaska Airlines miles as well as five Sony Xperia Tablet Z with three months of free data service and two smartphones with three months of free data and voice service. Throughout the event there will be in-store offers and promotions available.
