GCI launches up to 250 Mbps broadband speeds in Kenai and Soldotna

Free upgrade doubles upload speed, download speed jumps 25 percent

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – GCI is continuing its quest to re:DEFINE broadband in Alaska by upgrading its re:D service to up to 250 megabits-per-second download speeds (Mbps) and 10 Mbps upload speeds for customers in Kenai and Soldotna, making this the fastest broadband service available in the market. These upgraded speeds are now available in re:D serviceable areas across Alaska including Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Kenai-Soldotna, Ketchikan, the Mat-Su Valley and Sitka.

With speeds up to 250 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload, GCI offers the fastest, most reliable broadband data services in Alaska. With speeds this fast GCI re:D customers will be able to:

  • Download 10 songs in about 2 seconds
  • Upload 200 photos in about 7 seconds
  • Download one HD movie in just over 2 minutes
