Sitka customers will enjoy speeds 20 times faster than national average
Today, General Communication Inc. (GCI) introduced its 1 GIG red internet service in Sitka, celebrating with a special customer appreciation event at its local storefront.
“We’re so pleased to be able to celebrate the launch of 1 GIG red with our friends in Sitka,” said Warren Russell, Vice President, GCI Southeast Region. “We know 1 GIG will greatly improve the service that both our consumer and business customers receive—whether they’re monitoring weather reports or providing internet for the multitude of visitors Sitka hosts every summer, having 1 GIG will improve the online experience.”
GCI 1 GIG red speeds are up to 20 times faster than the current national average. GCI 1 GIG red customers in the area will immediately have access to 1 GIG internet at no added cost. In order to achieve these lightning-fast speeds, customers must be using an upgraded modem and router that can handle 1 GIG. Customers who need to upgrade their modem can visit the GCI store in Sitka, or pick one up at the customer appreciation event. GCI is also offering on-site support at the event for customers who need to swap out cable modems.
Today’s GCI events at the Crescent Harbor Shelter and the Sitka GCI store, located at 208 Lake St., will welcome 1 GIG to the community with hot dogs, giveaways and a test of the latest technology. The public is welcome to stop by from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. More information about GCI’s 1 GIG red internet service can be found at http://www.gci.com/internet/1gig-red.
