5G NR (New Radio) is the global standard for a unified 5G wireless air interface. Others have declared premature victory by way of their evolutionary steps toward 5G, but these were not true 5G networks. 5G Evolution is not 5G NR.
5G coverage is currently available in Anchorage and Girdwood, along the highways and throughout Eagle River, Chugiak, parts of Wasilla and Palmer, and now in Unalaska, Talkeetna, Kodiak and Valdez. Just as we've done with our gigabit internet services, we are working to expand our 5G service to other fiber-served areas in the state. Customers traveling outside of Alaska enjoy coverage on the farthest-reaching 5G signal in America, with our partner network, T-Mobile.
No. There is no charge to access 5G for business. All GCI plans for business and consumers include 5G in available markets. There may be future products and services yet to be created that may fall under different rate structures.
