November 11, 2015ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – GCI announced today, in collaboration with partners including Alaska Airlines, four finalists who will attend the 2015 GCI Great Alaska Shootout in Anchorage with their family and friends over Thanksgiving weekend. In addition to attending the nation’s longest-running regular season basketball tournament, these finalists, who hail from communities around the state, will also have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to participate in a half-court shot contest for an opportunity to take home the grand prize of 1 million Alaska Airlines Miles.
Shirley Sjoroos from Juneau, Darlene Askoak from Russian Mission, Thomas Drake II from Barrow and Leslie Cummings from Wrangell will each be accompanied by three guests to the tournament and also be awarded with roundtrip airfare from Alaska Airlines, lodging at SpringHill Suites, $500 VISA gift card and tournament tickets for four to all GCI Great Alaska Shootout games. The four finalists will meet center court during the men’s championship game to face off in the 1-million-mile, half-court shot contest.
“We had around 1,000 Alaskans enter the contest, and we’re thrilled to bring these four finalists and their families from across the state to the 2015 tournament. In addition to one grand-prize contest winner and the three additional finalists, all GCI Shootout attendees will have a chance to win prizes at every game. As the tournament’s title sponsor, GCI will offer prizes such as 25,000 Alaska Airlines Miles, six months of 1 GIG red Internet service, items autographed by basketball great Shaquille O’Neal and much more at the 16 women’s and men’s tournament games.
The 2015 GCI Great Alaska Shootout will take place Tuesday, Nov. 24 – Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Alaska Airlines Center on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus.
