Qualifications

GCI has the technical and professional skills and capabilities to apply to the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of telecommunication systems.  GCI has a qualified staff of engineers, project managers and technicians with the following technical, electrical, structural and mechanical skills and capabilities:

Data Network Engineers.  GCI employs network engineers and technicians that can design and operate local and wide area data networks.  GCI was the first Cisco value added reseller nationally and is proficient at the simplest data networks to the most complex converged networks with voice and video over IP.  GCI also has proven experience in design and operation of SCADA data and process control networks.

RF systems engineering, operation, and maintenance.  GCI employs radio frequency (RF) engineers and technicians to design, build, and maintain our extensive satellite/microwave telecommunications network, and the private RF and two-way radio systems for our clients.  We also manage FCC regulatory reporting and compliance for our large clients.  Once installed, GCI operations and maintenance technicians maintain the systems to the design availability.

Outside plant engineering, operation and maintenance.  GCI maintains extensive outside plant facilities throughout the state and so employs engineers and field personnel capable of meeting availability standards.

Power systems engineering, operation and maintenance.  GCI employs qualified power and civil engineers to design, build, and maintain our extensive telecommunications network.  Once installed GCI operations and maintenance technicians maintain the systems to the design availability.

Transmission engineering, operation and maintenance.  GCI employs transmission engineers and technicians to design, maintain, and operate the critical fiber and DACS, multiplex, and LAN/WAN interface equipment for the local and wide area transmission systems.

Project Management.  GCI uses the Project Management Institute's Project Management model.  Five GCI Industrial Telecom Group employees hold PMP certification.

Quality Assurance.  GCI identifies and targets applicable quality standards during the project planning phase and references them as a gauge throughout project implementation.  GCI is using standards and procedures as laid down by the ISO 9000.  We concentrate on developing well-defined deliverables and adhere to all applicable manufacturer and industry standards.  Our Quality Assurance approach insures quality is emphasized throughout the project life-cycle - not simply quality control where end results are monitored to determine whether or not they "pass" the test.  We build in quality "as we go" to identify risks and mitigation actions thus maximizing our success.
